Associate Scientist II Dicerna Pharmaceuticals
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Responsible for development and execution of experiments, including biochemical and cell-based assays, to support Oncology drug discovery programs. Perform research aimed at discovery and development of new candidate drug molecules. Utilize a variety of research methodologies, including molecular and cellular biological methods, assay development, and ?in vivo? modeling of diseases and testing of drug candidates. Utilize solid theoretical and experimental background in molecular biology or cellular biology, with strong expertise in gene expression and cellular methodologies. Perform experimental design, assay development and validation, troubleshooting, data interpretation and statistical analysis is required. Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature and contribute to the investigation, creation, and development of new methods, technologies, and directions for project advancement. Work independently to interpret results of complex experiments. Demonstrate independence of ideas and contributing to design, development and execution of research projects. Initiate innovative changes to processes and introduce new methodology in solving problems. Communicate scientific information effectively. Apply ability to function in an interdisciplinary team and fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines. Regarded as technical expert in area of specialty. Demonstrate initiative to address new technical challenges. May represent the Company with external collaborations and CROs. May participate in company licensing and patent discussions.
Requirements include a Master?s degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, or related field and six years of work experience in the job offered or related field working with gene expression and cell based methodologies; or, in the alternative, a Ph.D. degree or equivalent and three years of work experience.
Must have: thorough knowledge of Molecular Biology, including siRNA silencing, qPCR, including real-time PCR, primer design, sequencing, site-directed mutagenesis, gel electrophoresis, cloning, design and construction of expression vectors, and northern and southern blot analysis; experience with RNAi and the development of RNAi-based therapeutics, flow cytometry (operation, method development, data analysis, and training), Western blot, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, confocal and fluorescent microscopy. Must have expertise in cell biology methods, familiarity with methodologies for in vivo animal studies including surgery, xenograft tumor modeling, and iv, ip, sc, and oral routes of drug administration, prior demonstrated experience with collection, processing and analysis of animal tissue, and prior demonstrated experience with processing and analysis of human tissue, including human blood. Must have thorough knowledge of various gene expression analysis methodologies, and statistical methods to analyze and interpret data (e.g. Lasergene, Vector NTI, Bio-edit, GraphPad Prism, MS Excel), prior experience managing lab operations, managing lab stocks and reagent and sample archives, experience with service contracts, laboratory animal protocols, biosafety and radiation safety, demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical assays and protocols and the ability to perform and interpret experiments reliably.
