Associate Scientist / Scientist I Epitomics
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED
We seek a highly motivated scientist in protein biochemistry. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in a range of biological techniques essential for protein expression, purification and characterization. Demonstrated success in membrane protein (e.g. integral membrane proteins, GPCRs, ion channels and membrane-associated proteins) expression and purification will be preferred. It is anticipated that this will require creative and unique approaches for proteins that are difficult to express and purify, including methods for protein refolding. The proteins will be antigens for the generation of therapeutic and reagent antibodies.
Duties/Responsibilities
Develop and execute baculoviral, mammalian and/or in-vitro recombinant protein expression to support the need for different immunization strategies. Perform medium- to high-throughput transient gene expression in HEK, CHO and insect cells.
Provide molecular biology support for vector design and insight to guide development of appropriate purification or affinity-tagging strategies. Coordinate external requests for construct synthesis.
Perform, develop and optimize robust, efficient, scalable strategies for improving process performance. Activities will include small-scale studies and pilot scale purification studies.
Applies standard methods to purify proteins at the low mg scale.
Maintain appropriate notebook records of all studies, and satisfy all SOP lab requirements.
Qualifications/Experience:
A MS degree (5+ year experience) or Ph.D. (0-2 year experience) in molecular biology or protein biochemistry is required. The candidate will have strong experience in mammalian expression system and upstream cloning strategies. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, have experience working with multidisciplinary teams and the ability to critically present data in a group setting. Working experience in an industry setting is preferred. In addition, the candidate is expected to have good communication skills. This position is immediately available.
