About Product Development at iCrossing:
The Product Development team at iCrossing partners with employees and client teams to deliver the applications and technologies required to effectively support the digital marketing business. Within the PD team, there are groups that focus on specific platforms, applications, or strategy. Operational compliance is an important part of the Product Development group. Through the efficient and timely implementation of technology-based solutions, we are able to keep all of our applications running while making consistent improvements.
Software Engineer Temporary Hires take the role of a developer/tester within the team. Temp hires are responsible for small feature development on our internal web applications, writing automated tests, pairing with senior developers to learn new technologies, and learning basic SEM business concepts. Must be able to commute to downtown Chicago, every workday during the term of their employment, without the need for relocation.
Responsibilities:
You will learn the intricacies of Product Development, how to balance system relationships with system performance and data administration. You will also be tasked with understanding the process for implementing new code or fixes and how this directly affects our competitive nature within digital advertising. This framework would allow us to write tests in an English language or domain specific language and then execute them against the current code base, with a generated report at the end. You will learn and follow software development best practices, follow and encourage Agile software development best practices, work closely with senior developers to develop new features in applications, and assist with testing of new features and help optimize the quality assurance processes.
Qualifications:
Currently a junior or graduating senior in a 4-year undergraduate degree program for the Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering majors.
GPA above 3.0 is required, above 3.5 preferred.
Willing and eager to be challenged every day.
Required Technology Experience: Java programming, Linux/Unix usage
Preferred Technologies Experience: Web application frameworks (Servlets, Spring, etc) relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc), version control systems (CVS, SVN, Git, Mercurial)
Effective written and oral communication
