Tesla's goal is to accelerate the world's transition to electric mobility with a full range of increasingly affordable electric cars. Palo Alto, California based Tesla designs and manufactures EVs and EV power train components for partners such as Toyota and Daimler. Tesla has delivered more than 2,000 Roadsters to customers worldwide. Model S, the first premium sedan to be built from the ground up as an electric vehicle, begins deliveries in mid-2012.
Tesla Motors is looking for an experienced Corporate Attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will provide support and guidance on corporate governance matters as well as day to day transactional support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in general corporate matters, including commercial transactions, drafting transactional documents, employment law, intellectual property, regulatory matters, contract management, financing, corporate organization and securities compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support on transactions supporting day-to-day operations of the company
- Provide strategic legal support to business development, sales, finance, human resources, engineering and other internal groups across the company
- Help to develop, implement and continually improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency of Tesla's legal department
- Help with supply agreements, purchase agreements, license/technology agreements and other transactional documents.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of SEC filings and related documents, including current and periodic reports, proxy statements, registration statements and other securities-law filings
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- J.D. with excellent academic credentials and top tier law firm experience
- California bar preferred, active status required
- Minimum of five years experience as a corporate attorney
- Proven negotiation, drafting and analytical skills, including experience negotiating with sophisticated, nationally recognized parties
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (sense of humor required)
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment
- Sound and practical business judgment
- Ability to work both independently and with a diverse set of personalities in a team environment
- Proven track record of learning quickly, taking initiative, working proactively, being resourceful and taking on additional responsibility
