We are currently seeking a qualified Application Engineer to provide technical leadership in design, drafting, documentation, support, and development of cost estimates on complex audiovisual, video-conference, digital media, broadcast and related network systems. The Application Engineer will be wholly responsible for all technical aspects of an assigned project, including but not limited to the technical, physical, ergonomic, acoustics as well as the structural safety of a system.
Job Roles & Responsibilities:
Develop system design drawings including, but not limited to audiovisual system diagrams and schematic drawings; architectural diagrams, drawings and sketches;
Design/Build and Bid/Build specifications; and operational capabilities narratives, etc.
Interface with Sales Engineering / Sales team to develop and document a project design package based on client requirements and job site conditions.
Work directly with clients, architects, consultants and Yorktel staff throughout the design development and delivery process with the support of the Supervisor.
Offer technical support and guidance thru the duration of the project for other team members, including those in Programming, Fabrication, Field Engineering or Commissioning Engineering.
Be capable of working effectively and efficiently with support from other members of the engineering team, and also be able to support other members of the engineering team.
Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records
Follow Yorktel procedures for archival of project documentation
Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades and subcontractors.
Effectively coordinate and manage multiple system design projects.
Be responsible for successfully completing assignments on time and within budget.
Conform to company technical standards and practices.
Report to Application Engineering Manager and Engineering Leadership Team.
Be willing to learn new skills as well as share knowledge with the rest of the Application Engineering team.
Job Requirements :
Skills & Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of Audio Video systems design, operation and installation.
Strong working knowledge of audiovisual control systems ? AMX / Crestron / Extron.
Capable of properly configure DSP devices including Clear One, Vortex, Biamp
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of AutoCAD drafting software, similar proficiency in the use of other diagrammatic software tools, or commitment to acquire said proficiency during employment.
Read, correctly interpret and produce multiple formats of technical specifications; schematic drawings and architectural diagrams .
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and general business software (Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, and Word).
Architectural drafting experience desirable.
Ability to interact with end-users and internal staff to successfully identify and document specific client requirements.
Ability to interface directly with the customer and represent Yorktel in a completely professional manner.
Strong working knowledge of information networks / IP skills desirable
Must have good written and oral communications skills.
Education & Qualifications:
A BA in a technical subject or equivalent and related work experience.
5 Plus years as a application engineer in the Audio Visual or affiliated industry.
InfoComm CTS certification highly desirable with Advanced CTS-D certification desirable.
Certified Videoconference Engineer (CVE) certification desirable.
Certifications with AV Industry leaders desirable (Extron, AMX, Crestron, Biamp, etc)
Willingness to pursue additional training related to performance of job.
Knowledge of Yorktel policies and procedures.
Additional Requirements:
Ability of lift and carry heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
Limited weekend / late night work may be required.
Requires extensive sitting, standing and walking.
Travel to job site locations and remain within the local work area until on-site work is completed.
Domestic travel requiring multi-night stays within and at times outside the local work area.
International travel may be required .
Valid U.S. driver?s license is a requirement and must have a positive driver?s abstract.
Current valid U.S. Passport is desirable.
Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts, and be willing to apply for security clearances, suitability, and other related clearances to be able to work at certain customer locations
Participate in technical training and certification testing programs.-
Utilize your own vehicle in the performance of your duties.
