The Automation Engineer will plan, design, develop, test, debug and deploy software solutions for managing Volusions Cloud Infrastructure. A successful Automation Engineer will have a proven track record of partnering cross functionally with IT Systems, Database & Network Engineering teams to develop the software tools and processes that manage our disparate systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide authority and guidance on Infrastructure Automation
Drive the operational excellence of infrastructure process through automation
Coordination of other technical resources as necessary to provide an appropriate solution
Proven success in ETL development and support in a ETL function
Strong working knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts
Development of hardware and software standards
Create and maintain a central repository of IT software to be used by team members
Automate provisioning and configuration updates for Systems, Database and Network elements
Create and administer Jira-based process workflows
Develop data extract, import capabilities to support data management and validation
Understand and be able to document required system and application configuration changes.
Develop, document, and maintain business processes for consistency and increased productivity.
Provide input & maintain runbook and technical documentation.
Develop and maintain SOP's for job processing, application integration, reporting, and ensure their adherence.
Work with internal technical teams and various vendors to resolve any systemic issues that arise.
Be available for contact via email or phone during off-hours to assist in escalated issue resolution.
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or closely related field and/or relevant experience
3+ years of experience with the .NET Framework
3+ years of experience with scripting languages (Python, Perl, Powershell)
Experience with Puppet, T-SQL and SQLServer 2008/20012
Proficient with Web and Internet Technologies
Solid understanding of web based application development architectures
Experience with ITIL Incident and Change Management process
Strong Interpersonal Skills ? ability to work with people of a variety of skill sets
Thrives in a fast-paced environment, a self-starter
Experience with VMware vSphere, Linux (Red Hat, SUSE, Ubuntu)
Knowledge of Network fundamentals & SAN & NAS storage fundamentals
Relevant industry experience in large enterprise sized environments
Thorough problem determination skills to troubleshoot and resolve system and infrastructure problems
