The Opportunity:
Precision Therapeutics, Inc. (Precision), a life-science company located in Pittsburgh, PA, is committed to improving outcomes of cancer patients. Known for their expertise in the science of individualizing cancer therapy through the use of a proprietary and unique live-tissue platform, Precision develops novel markers to help guide treatment decisions based on the biological processes of each individuals cancer.
Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)
Evaluate laboratory processes and apply knowledge to recommend solutions that improve process accuracy and capacity through automation.
Integrate instrumentation and automation devices into clinical laboratory processes.
Configure Laboratory Information Systems to acquire data from and control instruments and devices.
Creation and execution of system test cases.
Authoring requirement and design documentation.
Provide support for device validation efforts.
Empirical and theoretical analysis of device capacity, tolerence, and accuracy.
Adherence to change control processes and procedures.
Troubleshoot reported errors and faults.
Occasional night and weekend support.
Qualifications:
Education requirements:
Masters degree in bio-engineering, or engineering related discipline with material experience in either cellular or molecular biology. Bachelor's degree acceptable for consideration, when coupled with relevant experience.
Experience:
Entry level position
Laboratory course work involving electronics, mechanical systems, cellular biology and molecular biology
Work or community service experience which require professional etiquette and leadership qualities prefered.
Required Skills:

Troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions
Ability to understand technical drawings and schematics
Knowledge of mechanical systems
Knowledge of molecular biology technologies

Demonstrated ability to write documentation for a technical audience

Physical Demands:
Work seated for long periods
Use of computer keyboard and mouse for extended periods
Ability to travel between laboratory sites (all within the City of Pittsburgh)
Work Environment:
Cubicle space with shared team areas
Fluorescent lighting
Individual workstations with shared development server resources.
