The Job
Avionics Technician (Conformal Coat 2nd shift)
Responsibilities
- Perform manufacturing/production activities according to space standards in the areas of: mechanical assembly, soldering, conformal coating, epoxy application, crimping and wire harness assembly
- Troubleshoot and report any variations from the established plan to the Manager or Lead Technician in a timely manner
- Communicate between quality and production groups
- Provide support to production assemblies, non-flight hardware or R&D programs
- Heavy conformal coat support utilizing NVOC, Urethane, Acrylic and Silicone based coatings
- Utilize aerospace best practices
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years related experience in conformal coating in aerospace or technical field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have familiarity with relevant manufacturing processes and procedures and a good working knowledge of conformal coating processes
- Read, understand and work effectively with mechanical drawings and documentation including Bills of Material and assembly drawing travelers
- Basic knowledge of ERP traveler data input
- Have the ability to self-direct own work but also know when to ask questions
- Understanding of traceability requirements and basic knowledge of Quality Systems and MRB processes
- Familiar with aerospace best practices
- Experience maintaining and programming of PVA Conformal Coat system
- Certification or knowledge in clean room and ESD practices
- Must be able to work first shift on a daily basis, 2pm â€" 10:30pm
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40lbs.
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position.
- 3 years hardware build experience preferred
- Familiar with NASA Standards for Soldering, Cable, or able to certify and maintain certification in 1 or more NASA standards
- Current or past certification for NASA-STD-8739.3, IPC-610 or equivalent
- Experience maintaining and programming of PVA Conformal Coat system
