The Job
Avionics Technician (Avionics/Electronics Integration â€" 1st shift)
Responsibilities
- Installs Avionics electronic assemblies, cable harness assemblies, coax cables, antennas, and RF components onto launch vehicles using precision and calibrated hand tools.
- Routes and terminates cable bundles on the vehicle (crimp or solder).
- Prepare and precisely apply adhesives and RTV as directed to assemblies.
- Provides feedback to the engineering team to improve and streamline the integration process.
- Reads and interprets drawings, assembly instructions, electrical wiring diagrams, and other types of build documentation.
- Records work performed on ERP and rework tracking system.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of five years installing and integrating cable harness assemblies preferably in aerospace/space electronics.
- All candidates must complete an assembly/soldering workmanship skill assessment as part of the interview process.
- Must be able to lift and carries 50 pounds, repetitive assembly operations, work on ladders and in elevated and confined work areas, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
- Must be able to work 1st shift on a regular basis, 6am â€" 2:30pm.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Some travel may be required.
- Ability to use MS Office, ERP and related programs.
- Familiarity with ESD sensitive components and associated handling protocols preferred.
- Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment.
- Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and high accuracy.
- Ability to correctly and efficiently operate various hand tools and electronic assembly tools.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow build documentation.
- Ability to distinguish colors is required.
- Work on ladders and elevated surfaces and work areas with limited access.
Preferred skills
- Associates Degree preferred, high school diploma required
- NASA Certified to NASA-STD-8739.4 Crimping, Interconnecting Cables, Harnesses and Wiring preferred.
- Ability to use MS Office, ERP and related programs.
- Familiarity with ESD sensitive components and associated handling protocols preferred.
