Job Description:Position: Back-end Web Engineer
Skyfire is looking for a mid-level Back-end Web Engineer to join our growing team. This is a terrific opportunity to participate in the development of our various web services components to deliver innovative solutions to meet the growing demand in mobile applications.
Job Responsibility:
Design and develop various back-end web services using standard tools and libraries
Integrate web services with 3rd party services in a scalable way, both as a publisher and a consumer of those services
Develop web-based UI elements in a mobile context that integrate with back-end web services
Recommend and integrate open source components, libraries, and third party tools
Utilize and evangelize best of breed software development techniques including object oriented development, design patterns, re-usable and modular software development
Required Skills:
Demonstrated track record of developing, shipping and supporting web services components for a large scale application
Ability to quickly master new technologies and push the envelope for performance and reliability
Sound coding practices accompanied with strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
In-depth debugging skills; ability to reach out and use team strengths to solve problems
Ability to work in small collaborative teams and have a great passion working in an Agile development process environment
Required Qualifications:
Five years web services development including use of PHP and MySQL within a highly scalable architecture
At least 2-3 years experience of development in JavaScript; experience with browser extension development a plus
Familiarity with 3rd party API?s, including FaceBook, Twitter, OAuth, OpenID, etc.
Good understanding of HTML5
Development in Linux (5+ years) system environments
Development of web services supporting a mobile context preferred
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant discipline and experience
The position will report directly to the Manager, Web Services.
