Yelp is looking for that certain special someone to join our Human Resources team in San Francisco as our Benefits Specialist! Our ideal candidate is a positive go-getter able to learn and adapt in a fast-growing environment.
The Benefits Specialist administers all of Yelp?s existing benefits programs. S/he conducts new employee orientations, answers employee questions, completes administrative activities related to the full benefits lifecycle and compliance activities. S/he works closely with our benefits brokers on plan questions/issues.
Responsibilities:
Maintains Benetrac, Wageworks, Conexis, Flex Plan and other HR systems
Handles benefits administration: uploading new hires from Oracle HRMS to various systems, following up on deadlines, working with payroll to ensure correct benefit deductions, managing yearly open enrollment process, balancing semi-monthly FSA deductions, etc.
Handles back-end process for terminations, including filling out the exit checklists, terminating benefits from all systems, and setting up Cobra when eligible
Answers questions and responds to employee inquiries about benefits in accordance with applicable laws, contracts and policy, including health and life insurance, disability, COBRA, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, Unemployment Insurance, etc.
Meets with new employees to review benefit package and coordinates benefits orientation meetings for sales classes
Responds to questions from HR business partners regarding company benefits and policies
Works with insurance brokers during plan renewal and throughout year on various issues relating to employee benefits
Reviews and approves invoices from insurance carriers
Works closely with legal to maintain HR policies: identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions such as OSHA, EEO, ADA, wage & hour, etc.
Handles annual EEO reporting, order labor poster, etc.
Reviews job duties for current and new positions to test for FLSA status
Assists with maintenance of company intranet
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 5 years of professional human resources benefits experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. In-depth knowledge of benefits policies and regulations.
Must have a strong working knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local regulations, filing and compliance requirements (current and pending) affecting employee benefit programs including: ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA and Workers Compensation requirements
Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Able to demonstrate complete discretion and confidentiality
Able to work effectively in an open, highly energetic environment
Effective oral and written communication skills
