Position SummaryWe collect 500 million daily data points, and you present them in compelling, actionable visualizations.
Primary Responsibilities
Our BI platform runs on Vertica and contains over one trillion data points. Our management team consumes data at a supersonic pace, and one great visualization is more helpful than hundreds of tables. As the company?s first dedicated Data Visualization engineer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a growing library of dashboards, reports, and interactive data tools.
Requirements
You love (not just tolerate!) JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
You can effortlessly write SQL, even the gnarly queries.
Buzzword alert: You know HTML5. And you cringe when people list that as a requirement.
You hate pie charts as much as Edward Tufte.
You use a modern JavaScript imaging framework like d3, Raphael, Highcharts or flot.
You?re comfortable with web framework like Rails, Django, Spring, ASP.NET MVC, Zend, etc.
You thrive when given broad objectives with minimal supervision.
You have excellent written and verbal communications.
Nice to Have
You?ve played around with R and ggplot2.
You know who Mike Bostock is and why he?s important.
You have experience in the gaming industry.
You are great (not just good!) at Ping Pong.
