We are currently seeking an experienced Billing Coordinator to work at our corporate office in Brentwood, TN. The Billing Coordinator is responsible for researching and resolving coding, professional fee claims, and claims edits or denials using a variety of proprietary and external tools while maintaining strict compliance with all applicable guidelines. Essential Functions
Works closely with billing partner on issues which prevent claims from final billing (i.e. verification and authorization, Medical Record Request/Delays, Athena edits and rules.
Researches and resolves denials from insurance carriers forwarded to Cogent by the external billing vendor using a variety of methods dependent on the denial reasons, including invalid diagnosis, authorization required or invalid policy number. Enters correction into the Athenanet system for resubmission to the insurance carrier.
Researches rejections for assigned market(s) within Athena system. Requests additional or updated information from the market then enters into Athena Net system for resubmission.
Researches and corrects invalid or incorrect patient demographic information within Athena such as invalid phone number or insurance policy number or missing Primary Care Physician.
Assists with a variety of special projects.
Meets or exceeds production standards with regards to front end and back end denials.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience
High School diploma or GED required
One to two years medical billing and/or CPT/ICD9 coding experience helpful.
Expertise in Microsoft software products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Experience with Athena Net billing system desired.
