Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI) is a global provider of natural products serving the ever expanding agricultural and water markets. Venture capital financed and headquartered in Davis, California, the company focuses on discovering, developing, and marketing natural pest management products for the effective control of pests, weeds, plant diseases, and invasive species.
MBI is seeking a BIOPROCESS TECHNICIAN to join our Process Development team. This individual will report to the fermentation scientist, and will be responsible for supporting fermentation process development activities as well as general lab duties. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, possess flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work well in a team or independent setting.
Responsibilities and Duties
Clean, sterilize, and operate fermentors and glassware of varying scales for media preparation
Set up and maintain fermentors, centrifuge, and other process equipment
Autoclave solutions
Weigh and dispense dry components and liquid aliquots
Perform sampling/in-process testing to support development projects
Maintain inventory of raw materials and supplies
Perform house-keeping in all work areas to maintain cleanliness and organization of fermentation lab
Other duties as assigned
Qualification (Skills and Specifications)
High School Diploma or Associate Degree in Biological Sciences or Physical Science
Good interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and record-keeping skills
Ability to follow written instruction
Good time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task
Experience performing aseptic/sterile operations or working in a lab a plus
Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Ability to work a minimum of 20 ? 29 hours a week
Essential Physical & Mental Functions
Mechanical aptitude with ability to lift 50 lbs.
Be able to work on repetitive tasks in a multi-functional lab
Compensation
Compensation TBD depending on experience. This is a paid part-time position that is not eligible for MBI company benefits. This position is eligible to participate in MBI 401(k) plan with employer match.
