Board Certified Clinical Biochemical Genetics Laboratory Director Good Start Genetics
We seek a highly motivated individual who is Board Certified in Clinical Biochemical Genetics (the position may be full- or part-time based on availability of the candidate)Responsibilities:
Develop and validate a clinical Tay-Sachs enzyme (TSE) assay
Oversee the Tay-Sachs enzyme assay in clinical production and complete review of all required quality control
Working with the Quality Manager, ensure compliance with all relevant College of American Pathologist (CAP) checklist items for the Tay-Sachs enzyme assay
Review and sign out patient results with the highest possible accuracy and quality
Work with the other Laboratory Directors/ Medical Directors to ensure timely and accurate result reporting
Discuss benefits and limitations of diagnostic testing and test results with physicians, genetic counselors, and other health professionals
Seek and support new and innovative ways to provide best in class service to GSG?s clients
Support internal and external company initiatives.

Requirements:
M.D. or Ph.D. in a biological science
Board certified in Clinical Biochemical Genetics (qualified as a CLIA laboratory director for TSE testing)
New York State Certificate of Qualification (as appropriate to TSE testing)
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years of experience working as a Clinical Biochemical Genetics Laboratory Director
Previous experience with Tay-Sachs enzyme testing
A high level of personal accountability, integrity and responsibility
Superior organizational and time-management skills
High attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience in high-throughput, fast-paced environments
Familiarity with the College of American Pathologists checklist requirements for clinical laboratories
Board certification as a Clinical Molecular Geneticist
