Build Release Engineer MaxPoint Interactive
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED MaxPoint is seeking a highly motivated Build Release Engineer in our Austin, Texas office to define, create and manage build release deliverables as an integral part of our product lifecycle. The ideal candidate is energized by software that creates, manipulates, and analyzes massive datasets that are beyond the scope of RDBMs and that is mission critical to the on-going operations and success of the company. This individual will work with multiple teams of talented engineers responsible for the full lifecycle of production software applications ? including big data and database-based systems.
Work directly with Development, Development Operations, Quality Assurance and Information Technology teams to provide daily support.
Promote relationships with Development and Operations in order to drive enhancements to the end-to-end release process (workstation to production).
Design, plan, configure and evolve Build and Release best practices within your own team and educating the other stakeholder teams. These best practices should support traceability, scalability and auditability for change.
Define, compile and build a past build test framework while contributing to our team?s growing set of development platforms, tools, and processes in a variety of different technologies.
Administer various tools supporting release management including Source Control, Continuous Integration, Artifact Management and Change Management.
Deploy the software locally for deployment and test, and package for remote deployment by our customers.
Strong analytical skills and proven ability to quickly learn and integrate new analytical concepts
Install and configure test and development environments, starting from the OS (Windows, Ubuntu, Linux, CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux) up through the application layer.
Configure and support Websphere, Hudson, Nexus and other open source tools, as well as some proprietary software.
Create and update scripts (Bash shell and Python) used in the SCM environment.
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Source control tools such as Accurev, GIT, ClearCase, Perforce and Subversion
Continuous Integration (CI) tools such as Jenkins, AHP and Jenkins
JIRA change management tool or equivalent
Build Automation tools such as Maven or Ant (for Java)
Orchestration tools such as Puppet or Chef
Familiarity with Hadoop or similar Big Data Frameworks
Application Servers administration such as tcServer, JBoss and IIS (and Deployment Manager)
Linux/UNIX system administration
BS in Computer Science or other technical discipline (with significant computer coursework)
5+ years of experience in Build, Release and Configuration management roles, including deploying and supporting both Windows and Linux systems
Demonstrated expertise in a range of version controls, continuous integration and build automation tools and approaches (including open source solutions) e.g. Hudson, JIRA, Visual Studio, Git Hub and Subversion
Solid scripting skills, ideally with Bash shell and Python
ITIL/ITSM Standards for Configuration Management
Familiarity with large software deployments under the entire SDLC
Experience working with Unix scripting and automation tools, such as Chef is a plus
Conduct smoke tests to ensure releases are ready for in-depth testing is a plus
Must be eligible to work in the United States (we are not able to sponsor visas at this time)
