We see this as an exciting opportunity to join our Release Management team as a Build Release Engineer, building and deploying world-class enterprise software. You will work as part of a team of dedicated and skilled software and quality assurance engineers to develop and execute strategies for software configuration management and deployment. You will report directly to our Configuration & Release Manager.
Responsibilities
Own configuration management, build and release activities according to defined processes and planned schedules
Automate and configure changes into Integration, QA, Staging and Production environments
Maintain an automated, continuous, build process that identifies build errors and notifies appropriate resources
Collaborate with Development, QA, and IT /Operations to implement quality releases
Identify new tools, technologies, processes to improve quality, reliability, repeatability, efficiency of builds and releases
Work with IT on deployment of application to various servers with automatic configuration of each application
Work to automate all aspects of deployments; identify where technical solutions are still needed
Identify production artifacts that need to be brought under source control; champion the acceptance of these recommendations
Implement source control labeling to provide visibility and traceability throughout the life cycle
Use source control & defect tracking tools to support and provide visibility to the software development life cycle
Branching and merging code and working with developers to correct any conflicts in the merging process
Be a key contributor to ensuring integrity of content and process of deployments
Communicate appropriately with client-facing personnel on status and deliverablesRequired Skills and Experience
Required Skills and Experience
BSCS/CE degree or equivalent experience
Direct experience with source control, configuration, build, and release management in a Microsoft technologies environment
Details-driven personality with a strong desire to develop and document processes and tools
Commitment to quality
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and ensure tasks are completed on schedule and to escalate as needed
Experience with Microsoft Windows, Visual Studio
Expert experience with MS Team Foundation Server, or other Source Control System
Experience building C /.Net code
Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and debugging skills
Familiarity with complex web applications
Solid working knowledge of scripting languages
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Team-oriented attitude
Other Desired Skills
Experience with MSBuild, Nant, Perl or other scripting languages. or other automated build systems
Integration of automation test suites and result distribution
Ability to write and debug programs and scripts
Working knowledge of ASP.NET, C , SQL Server
Familiar with Windows PowerShell for use with Build Systems
