The Business Analyst (BA) has responsibility for supporting the success of project implementations, including transition to customer support as well as for overall client satisfaction. The BA must have prior knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies including: client requirements gathering, design specifications, solution development and testing of client applications, client support, training, and systems integration. This position reports directly to the Senior BA on smaller project implementations and to the Lead BA on large project implementations. The Business Analyst will begin to assume senior level responsibility as it pertains to total ownership and accountability for all work efforts. The direct promotion path for a Business Analyst is Senior Business Analyst.
The BA can expect to be at the client site an average of 0-50% depending on client (Averages 10-25 percent of the time). Some travel to either the Atlanta or Milwaukee offices will also be expected for those team members working with cross-located project teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support effort of ensuring the success factors of each project are met: SDLC compliance, Change control, Issue and risk escalation and Client satisfaction.
Develop relationships with client stakeholders.
Demonstrate accountability in all assignments.
Work in an effective team dynamic structure in order to receive needed supervision and develop deeper knowledge of product functionality.
Client Deliverable Responsibilities:
Spend time with the Business Analysts and subject matter experts within the client community; however, the majority of direction will be received from Senior and Lead Business Analysts.
Work with the client and team Business Analysts to become knowledgeable of products functionality and to gain an understanding of health insurance practices and processes.
Work with the client to understand and document detailed business and functional application requirements for client review and sign-off.
Work with the client and team Business Analysts to develop detailed functional designs for internal and client review and sign-off.
Review internal QA and development documentation to ensure that it meets the client business needs.
Work with the technical resources to monitor development of client applications to ensure adherence to requirements and design specifications.
Complete QA tasks, including creating and executing test cases via Test Director (when requested by the project manager or Lead QA Analyst).
Work with the team Business Analysts to support the client acceptance testing process.
Work with the team Business Analysts to develop training manuals and support the training process.
Support the formal transition of product and project knowledge to the dedicated customer support resource.
Assist the customer support issue and defect analysis efforts when required, including defect and issue triaging and testing.
Apply past project experience and exercise good judgment and creativity in supporting and completing project activities and resolving project-related issues and problems.
Identify project issues and escalate issues to the Senior or Lead Business Analyst when support is needed.
SDLC and Internal Responsibilities:
Learn SDLC (Connecture methodology) and adhere to Practice Management tools, templates and processes.
Complete all project related tasks and ensure on time delivery of all project deliverables.
Support the effort of managing change control and be responsible for providing project estimates on out of scope items when requested.
Support Product Management and Product Engineering and participate in core product development strategy sessions when requested.
Ensure effective communication with team members who are shared across multiple locations.
Enter time into time reporting software by deadline set by the Connecture Financial Analyst.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
2+ years of experience with systems integration, and/or internet/web, desktop, Client/Server system implementation and support including full software life cycle management. Formal training preferred.
Prior Internet development project experience.
Prior health insurance, general healthcare or general insurance experience.
Prior tenure and consultant experience within a professional services firm (Big 4 or other).
Highly competent with MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
Customer management skills for administration, resolving issues and building customer relationships.
External customer relationship management and facilitation skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Effective listening and problem solving skills.
Responds strongly and positively to challenging work and deadlines.
Works as an integral part of a talented team in a fast-paced and proactive environment.
Other Preferred Skills and Experience:
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation experience (e.g. Peoplesoft, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Health and Life defined benefit plan administration experience.
General web application development knowledge.
General data communications and network operating systems knowledge.
Technical background in web applications (COM+, Java, XML, XSL, HTML, ASP).
