Business Analyst (BA)
(Experience Level - 3-5 years)
Job Purpose:
The Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for working with new or current clients, gathering business requirements and following through the software development lifecycle through to implementation. The BA will use in-house tools to document the requirement and communicate both internally with developers and externally with clients to track progress. The ideal candidate for the BA role has a background supporting users of web applications and will act as the subject matter expert in the configuration of the software. Gathering requirements, performing gap analyses and troubleshooting issues customers may experience when in the user acceptance stage will also be key skills. The applicant must have strong analytical skills, a passion for delivering excellent customer service, be well organized and able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the candidate must have effective time and project management skills to push initiatives and results efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Gather and document business requirements using appropriate forums and techniques, i.e. workshops, one-to-one meetings, task analysis
Translate business requirements to functional specifications
Ability to analyze and map client data feeds
Will be responsible to verify configuration of data acquisition services, views, dashboards and workflow solutions for our financial services clients
Ensures documentation of configurations and issue remediation
Assist project managers and sales reps with pre-sales creation of POC?s
Utilizes knowledge of Vista One product features and best practices to make solution recommendations and estimate work effort
Assesses customer-reported issues and applies department and organization objectives to determine prioritization and escalation; proactively communicates regarding identified issues
Participates in internal training associated with product features and system governance processes
Efficient incident management, while maintaining deliverables and adherence to Service Level Agreements
Serves as an internal knowledge resource for other members of the organization
Skills/Qualifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, while working in a global environment
Proven analytical skills
Working knowledge of software development lifecycle stages
Demonstrable knowledge of Financial Industry including Securities and Investments, Fund Accounting, Prime Broker and Hedge Funds
Detail oriented including analyzing systems or process flows to individual data field levels
Possess Time-management skills that will facilitate multi-tasking and meeting tight deadlines
Experience in Software Development Fundamentals, Testing and Documentation
Familiarity with MS Office apps, including MS Project, Visio
Education:
BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Finance
Required Skills:
Working knowledge of software development lifecycle stages
3-5 years of experience in Financial Industry including Securities and Investments, Fund Accounting, Prime Broker and Hedge Funds
Analyzing systems or process flows to individual data field levels
Excellent working knowledge of O-O languages
Working knowledge of web languages and frameworks (HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, JavaScript/JQuery)
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
Self-starter with strong problem solving skills
Excellent with both written and verbal communication
Ability to mentor and be mentored by your co-workers
Initiative to work both independently and as part of a multi-national team
