As a valued member the Product Development organization, the Business Analyst (BA) is primarily responsible for defining the functional specifications for the Sparta Systems products. The BA plays an important role in a project?s success working closely with both Product Management and Product Development to define solutions that will meet business needs. Collaboration with Product Management allows the BA to not only comprehend strategic and tactical business requirements, but to also assist in their development. The BA must have a strong willingness to understand the needs of customers and be passionate about designing solutions that meets those needs. Beyond that, the BA must effectively communicate requirements to the Product Development team and assist in their delivery. Collectively, the BA role at Sparta calls for a passionate problem solver who can think outside of the box to create new and exciting solutions!
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver functional requirements specifications defining creative solutions that meet business needs and are feasible to implement in release timeframes.
Collaborate with Product Managers to understand and assist in the development of business requirements.
Effectively communicate requirements to delivery team and assist the team with implementation and test planning. Support the team throughout the release providing advice and requirement clarifications.
Create synergy by serving as a liaison between Product Management and Product Development. Reconcile conflicts and maintain a willingness to challenge the assumptions of each team.
Keep respective teams focused on overall project goals and timelines. Maintain focus and confidence, especially when facing adversity during a project.
Communicate directly with customers via requirements workshops, interviews and site visits to better understand their needs.
Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a product development role.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a business analyst (or Systems Engineer).
Excellent analytical, logical, presentation, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.
Exposure to the Life Sciences (or high regulated industry) domain.
Position is on-site at Sparta Systems headquarters in Hamilton, NJ with occasional travel to customer sites.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lead projects and is comfortable making critical decisions.
Versatile and able to work with multiple teams and potentially multiple projects.
Passionate problem solver who can distinguish requests from the underlying true needs.
Can manage multiple tasks and projects while remaining conscious of deadlines and deliverables.
Familiarity with technologies including application servers, web services, Java, XML and HTML.
Comfortable working in an Agile Scrum environment.
