The HMS Professional Services group immediately seeks a Business Analyst to capture, gather and document business and functional requirements for data management solutions. Ultimately, the Business Analyst will work under the guidance and direction of more senior functional and technical team members to create deliverables and maintain work products for various projects and programs. The Business Analyst will collaborate with other internal departments as needed to specify, implement, and maintain customer data management, analytic, and compliance solutions.
The Business Analyst will leverage organizational process assets (process documents, templates, and historical artifacts from previous engagements) and procedures for implementation and support activities. Through on-the-job and targeted training activities, the Business Analyst will be required to quickly and effectively learn the key functions of the role including requirements management, project administration, data profiling and enrichment, formal and informal testing, and continuous process improvement. The Business Analyst will also assist in documenting and executing approved test cases in order to deploy high quality software releases and data deliverables. The Business Analyst must follow through on activities that clearly define client business requirements and must become comfortable with operating with limited direction in a highly-dynamic, client-facing, fast-paced regulated environment.
Primary responsibilities:
Work with clients, customers, user groups and team members to capture and maintain requirements according to SDLC and Agile methodologies
Gather and document user, functional, and system interface requirements for master data management and compliance solutions such as data imports and file extracts
Support program managers by updating schedules, issue logs, risks registers, and any other project management documentation in a timely manner
Document and communicate relevant information (from team meetings, JAD sessions, and requirements gatherings workshops) to team members in a timely manner
Conduct test cases for software releases, change requests, and data deliverables
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies as related to implementation and support initiatives
Other tasks that will be required:
Assist senior team members with preparing solution administration, user guides, and system training materials
Assist project and support teams with user acceptance testing and system training activities
Any other ancillary tasks assigned by the company from time to time
Key Competencies:
Ability to manage multiple priorities, adjust to changing work schedules, and drive tasks to completion
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form (such as in emails, client presentations, and meeting facilitation)
Ability to maintain high attention to detail and be highly organized
Ability to learn new applications and tools (such as open source office suites, content management systems, and collaboration tools)
Ability to work without close supervision when necessary
Ability to perform efficiently and effectively (in groups or independently)
Job Requirements:
BA/BS degree required (specialization in business management, information technology, or computer software design preferred)
Ability to travel domestically up to 60%
Competency with MS Office Suite including:
MS Word for uses such as documenting meeting minutes, status reports, and requirements documents
MS Visio for creating workflows and data flow diagrams
MS Access and MS Excel for conducting data analysis, manipulation , and delivery
Previous business analysis experience preferred including:
Standard analysis and documentation techniques (use cases, business rules, process diagrams, and entity relationships)
Standard requirements documentation (business and functional requirements)
Previous IT professional services, system integration or consulting experience a plus
Previous experience specifying business and functional requirements for or administering a commercial customer MDM or aggregate spend solution preferred
Report development experience preferred, preferably with healthcare data such as provider profiles, medical coding, physician spend, script and/or outlet data
PMI, PRINCE2, or IIBA certification a plus
Familiarity and experience with a formal business analysis or project management approach a plus (i.e. PMBOK, BABOK)
