The Department
Product and Mission Management
The Product and Mission Management Office at SpaceX is charged with leading, at a programmatic level, the successful execution of the terms and conditions agreed to by contract with our customers. The office includes roles in product management, business development and sales support, proposal development, mission management, mission engineering, contract management, scheduling, and regulatory coordination.
The Job
Responsibilities
Our growth has created an opportunity for an entry-level engineer to support business development processes and execute special projects. The ideal candidate will be interested in applying engineering tools and skills to business activities and will be capable of facilitating communication between the SpaceX technical team and proposal editorial staff. The position requires initiative, attention to detail, strong project management and writing skills, and the ability to interact with multiple engineers in various technical disciplines. Responsibilities include:
- Leading a team consisting of Sales, technical, and management personnel through proposal development
o Preparing a schedule for proposal development
o Posting up-to-date proposal documents for access by team
o Developing and issuing requests for proposal information to the technical team and converting responses into useful proposal narratives
o Providing proposal documents to others for review and approval and then incorporating reviewers' comments
o Arranging printing, shipping, and delivery of the proposal in the required format with correct markings
o Collecting lessons learned from the team and documenting them to improve proposal development in the future
- Assisting the SpaceX Sales Lead in proposal responsibilities
o Helping prepare for a team kickoff meeting
o Collecting questions about the solicitation for the customer
o Following up with proposal team members to ensure that resources are adequate and team members can meet proposal milestones
- Assisting Product & Mission Management in proposal responsibilities
o Involving technical team, Legal, and Contracts in proposal development
o Helping prepare and complete matrices tracking SpaceX compliance with customer requirements
- Executing special projects
o Helping create and improve internal documents, tools, and procedures
o Helping maintain up-to-date proposal write-ups
Requirements
- College degree in engineering field
- At least one course or practical experience in technical writing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Familiarity with Project and Adobe software desired
