Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the Business Development Manager is a free thinker. Someone with perspective and experience who understands what it takes to get the right deal done. Someone who will take initiative to help create new and refine existing business models that align the needs of patients with the goals of industry. And someone who believes in the business we are building, our ethics and our values.
Responsibilities:
Create business cases and financial models for potential lines of business.
Use critical thinking and business analysis skills to evaluate potential deals.
Participant in or lead successful contract negotiations with industry partners.
Develop external business relationships to help achieve company objectives.
Work with internal teams to identify and execute new business opportunities.
Monitor the industry for new market segment and opportunity development.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree required, MBA desired.
Strategy, Finance, Healthcare or Entrepreneurship education desired.
Experience
5+ years at one (required) or more (desired) of the following:
A health plan
A healthcare payor
A biopharmaceutical company
A life sciences consulting firm
Start-up experience desired; start-up attitude required. I.e., must be able to operate effectively within a small company, comfortable wearing many hats, etc.
Performance
Proven track record in business development or complex sales. Responsibility for $3 million or larger book of business desired.
Proven ability to successfully cultivate business relationships into paying customers.
Proven ability to work in a team environment and share responsibilities.
Miscellaneous
Must be passionate for the patient side of healthcare.
Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
