About the Job
Due to continuing rapid growth, Nexant's Demand Management group is adding an additional Business Development Manager to its organization in the Midwest territory in North America. This position addresses Commercial, Industrial and Residential market sectors. The role will report to the Director of Business Development and work in collaboration with Nexant Engineering teams, Nexant Account Managers, and Nexant business partners.
We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager for Nexant?s Midwest territory. The role is virtual and can be based anywhere in the Midwest. The primary function of the Business Development Manager is to participate in multiple sales cycles within a region, provide expert guidance and input on the creation and identification of services sales opportunities, architect and manage the approach required to address the business requirements of our clients. Our clients are Energy Utilities of all types, and major energy users. A major goal of this position is to enable the growth of orders for Nexant service offerings.
Duties and Responsibilities
Creation and identification of service business opportunities.
Leadership and management of cross-functional bid teams.
Product/sector leadership for one or more vertical markets or energy end-uses.
Contribution to the development of packaged programs and service offerings.
Management and development of key business partner relationships.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.
Work is non-routine and complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.
Travel as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree required. Masters, MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.
4-8 years of sales-related experience in Energy Efficiency and/or Demand Response markets in the Midwest territory.
Utility Program or Packaged Service design experience.
Demonstrable instincts to create and identify business opportunities for NEXANT services.
Familiarity with the operating constraints and business challenges of Investor Owned Utilities, Publicly Owned Utilities, Co-ops and Regulatory environments.
Excellent communication/negotiating/closing skills commensurate with the role.
Team player with strong interpersonal /communication skills.
