Business Development Manager/Director Gen9
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The Business Development Manager takes overall responsibility for developing long term relationships between Gen9 and strategic accounts. Such relationships will lead to the achievement of Gen9?s sales objectives and position the company for future growth and expansion. The BD Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and tactical account plans toward achieving sales targets. The BD Manager will use his/her knowledge of the DNA synthesis business and external contacts to commit to and deliver profitable initiatives that build sales. The BD Manager will drive Gen9 sales and commercial alliance efforts while working closely with the commercial team to identify and follow up on key opportunities. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in identifying leads and closing new opportunities and will position Gen9 as a primary or preferred partner for all gene synthesis services.
Meets or exceeds revenue growth goals for the sales territories.
Ability to effectively communicate the value proposition of Gen9?s products to prospective customers.
Ability to effectively discern the value of a given transaction and the customer?s ?business need? so Gen9 may effectively service this customer while meeting revenue and profitability goals.
Develop and assess new and existing business and sales strategies for the company?s existing and future products through communication with management and the business unit of the company.
Develop a business plan to exceed revenue targets and coordinate the plan and activities.
Advise management in negotiation and alignment of contracts with regard to long term strategy. This may include strategic alliances, supply agreements and R&D collaborations.
Provide information such as forecasts, competitive activity, call and expense reports and sales activity plans weekly, monthly or biannually as required.
Maintain and enhance technical knowledge on company products to the extent necessary to accomplish the approved business plan.
Establish strategic relationships with academic and industrial customers.
Requires knowledge of Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry and skill in their application at the level normally acquired through successful completion of a Bachelor of Science degree. Additional college level courses in sales, account management, marketing or business preferred.
The BD Manager should have a minimum of five (5) years of successful technical sales experience, selling to major accounts.
A basic understanding of contract negotiation and administration is important.
Must have good organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
Accurately forecast sales and be metric driven.
Knowledge of the gene synthesis, ag-bio, biofuels or industrial enzymes market.
Good verbal and written command of the English language.
Up to 40% travel may be required.
