As a Business Development Manager-Retail, you will be responsible for developing new business as well as maintaining and driving sales at retail accounts to achieve efficient and profitable sales of the company?s products to targeted levels. Assist team to optimize existing accounts and prospects. Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and new accounts. Interface with other departments as needed to drive business within accounts and resolve any issues that may arise. May provide direction / assignments to Sales Support Representatives, Senior Sales Support Representatives, and Sales Support Managers to help develop sales business.
How you?ll do it
Demonstrate an ability to build and/or establish relationships with new accounts and within major accounts including product managers, buyers, planners, etc.
Meet or exceed sales and profit goals established by senior management.
Develop and Execute upon business plans with Sales Director to meet those goals.
Exhibit strong leadership skills and motivate sales team to perform their duties in excellent fashion.
Strive to increase net sales by reducing Returns and Allowances where appropriate.
Assist National Account Managers and Sales Directors with sales calls, website and catalog analysis, or store visits.
Collaborate with entire sales team including channel support to ensure best practices and information are shared to maximize results and achieve goals.
Assist customers with all account related questions, issues, or concerns. Provide accurate, timely information to the customers regarding inquiries such as products, pricing, and quotes.
Conduct weekly reviews of sales, RMAs, returns & allowances (R&A), quotes, promotions, sell through, inventory management, turns, forecasts, and any other account activities that will impact financial results for the account(s), and report findings to Sales Director.
What you?ll need
3 - 5 years? experience in managing and selling to retail accounts;
1-3 years? experience in a sales and/or management capacity or equivalent position. Depending on channel, previously industry experience may be required
4-year Undergraduate degree
Have a good understanding of merchandising and merchandising techniques
Proven track record of sales growth and/or prospecting.
Ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy is required.
What you?ve done
Provide customer recaps for all meetings and take a leadership role to ensure all action items are executed upon including delegation of assignments to channel support representatives.
Assist sales team with all account related questions, issues, and concerns.
Analyze and understand industry market trends, competition, products, and pricing that may impact sales efforts and communicate this information to all sales management and other departments as necessary.
Assist in optimizing profitability at each assigned account.
Conduct sales and training meetings as required. Attend all required meetings.
Review and analyze daily sales and compare actual v. projected / plan results and be prepared to present that information when requested.
Recognize and escalate any and all critical issues regarding accounts and/or company policies to management immediately.
Provide positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to team members and escalate any issues as they arise.
