Due to continuing rapid growth, Nexant is hiring for a Business Development Manager in our Utility Services business unit. This position reports through the Business Development area and works in collaboration with marketing, operations, and product development and sales areas.
The preferred location for this position will be in our White Plains, NY. Depending on qualifications, the position may be based remotely but it is preferred have the position based in one of the following Nexant offices: Malvern, PA or White Plains, NY (NE); Cary, NC (Mid-Atlantic); Roswell, GA, Jacksonville, FL, Nashville, TN, Houston, TX (South); Madison, WI, Wheaton, IL, Des Moines, IA, Louisville, CO (Midwest).
The primary function of the Account Development Representative is to lead the front-end of the sales cycle to generate and close leads and opportunities. Our clients are Energy Utilities of all types, and major energy users. A major goal of this position is to enable the growth and closing of new accounts and orders for Nexant service offerings.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, e-mail, networking and regional industry meetings and events.
In collaboration with company Principals and/or solutions developers, promote and sell consultatively and make recommendations to prospects and clients regarding energy-efficiency solutions offered (and authorized) by the company.
Work in close coordination with company solution developers and Principals to provide solution offerings, pricing and scope of work information to qualify leads and opportunities and inform proposal content.
Develop and maintain professional and direct relationships with market actors, including prospective clients, regulators, regional stakeholders and current and prospective teaming partners to identify and enable business growth opportunities for the company.
Research and maintain a working knowledge of trends, developments, existing clients and prospects related to primary area of responsibility / industry.
Maintain 100% current and accurate records, including prospecting activities, customer contacts and relationships, opportunity and sales related activities and follow-up tasks in company SalesForce database.
Develop, present and maintain individual sales, market and account plan(s).
Work daily coordinating with other company sales, marketing and operations personnel to ensure standardization, continuity and effective delivery of business growth and development.
Achieve individual sales goals working in collaboration and in a team-based environment.
Position will require 75% or more local and regional travel.
Other duties as directed.
Bachelors, Masters, MBA degree in business, engineering or closely related fields preferred
Direct business, sales and/or industry experience may be substituted for education;
3-5 years of sales-related experience in utilities, energy efficiency and/or demand response markets;
Energy efficiency industry experience a plus;
Demonstrable instincts to create, identify and close business opportunities in a consulting or services environment;
Familiarity with the operating constraints and business challenges of Investor Owned Utilities, Publicly
