The company is seeking an experienced Business Development Representative (BDR) that will work on the front line of the company?s sales efforts in the public safety market. The BDR will work to create new market opportunities through the company?s targeted marketing and product initiatives and will own the initial customer contact, needs assessment, and product introduction. The candidate must be able to spend a substantial amount of the time on the phone creating new customer opportunities and pursuing leads generated by marketing and then work with the company?s account reps who will work on closing the opportunities.
The BDR will be responsible for developing revenue opportunities for the company?s three main products SaaS (software as a service) products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong telephone-based sales background and experience selling software. Previous experience in selling into public safety organizations and local and state government is a significant differentiator.
The principal responsibilities for this consulting position include:
Generate new sales opportunities through telephone prospecting on marketing efforts and fielding inbound leads from marketing-generated leads, and calling existing customers to create cross-sales opportunities.
Manage sales prospect from initial contact through to opportunity development
Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions
Educate customers about features and benefits of products in order to improve product related sales and customer satisfaction and demonstrate the products online as needed
Proactively recommend products based on cost, availability and requirements to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability
Increase sales opportunities by cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional sale items
Accurately maintain customer records and process customer transactions
Work closely with Client Services to coordinate post-sale handoff and ensure a smooth transition to integration and customer on-boarding
Maintain an understanding of key industry trends, customer requirements, and competitors and report back to team
Minimum three years experience in telephone-based sales
Experience with a consultative selling methodology
Experience and successful track record in selling to public safety (especially law enforcement), or state and local government is highly desirable
Prior track record of selling software is a requirement; experience cloud-based services is a strong advantage
A proven ability to achieve target objectives, especially outbound calls
Demonstrable writing skills and an ability to follow up with written communications
Ability to navigate/manage technical, product and business issues within an account
Previous experience in being able to price products or services based on multiple factors
