Job Description
Business Intelligence Architect's role is to help design and implement BI software and systems, including: ETL, databases, data warehouses and reporting. This includes selecting, blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing and rolling out BI solutions which can be leveraged by report developers and end-users. The Business Intelligence Architect is also responsible for ensuring high levels of BI backend availability by working with internal support teams and third party support. The focus of this role is more on creating and enhancing the databases and ETL needed to fuel robust reports and analysis. This role will be a significant resource for internal reporting and analysis systems within the organization, reporting directly to the Manager of Business Intelligence.
Responsibilities Include:
Working with the Product Owner in the ongoing development of the enterprise databases and business intelligence tools which enables fact-based decision making and ad hoc analysis.
Create and grow a robust business intelligence reporting environment by understanding our business and providing business users with the reporting and analysis they need to be successful.
Analyze and aggregate terabytes of structured data in ways that will offer rich analysis and reporting options to our report developers and business users.
Define and build ETL jobs to collect data from multiple sources to be aggregated into business and customer analysis data sets and cubes - you will define these cubes.
Build out an ever expanding business intelligence database in an agile way - create new tables and relationships and manage our tools to be scalable as required - you want to provide value fast.
Work with Business Analysts and Business Intelligence Reporters to create the foundations of BI solutions from start to finish - you will provide accurate data and make it accessible to BI tools.
As a Business Intelligence Architect you will be responsible for making sure we are collecting good data and providing a good foundation for reporting and analysis.
Collaborating with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery.
Staying current with industry trends.
Minimum Qualifications:
2-3 years of working in data and reporting environments and a good understanding database administration, data hygiene and enterprise reporting practices.
Good analytical, problem solving, investigative and research ability in the data world proven by experience in defining, evaluating, and selecting appropriate reporting and analysis solutions to solve business problems or take advantage of opportunities.
Have an understanding of how data is used in OLAP and Multi-dimensional cubes for reporting and analysis.
Must have Basic BI Tool and Basic ETL Knowledge, ODBC, JDBC, Database Connectivity experience and Advanced Database Programming skills including expertise in SQL.
Experience scheduling and monitoring ETL and DB jobs in Microsoft SQL Server and/or other SQL environments.
Experience using stored procedures in the aforementioned DB environments.
Ability to provide a high level of customer service to others in providing accurate information and presentation of findings, analysis or work completed.
Ideal Qualifications:
4-year degree in a field of business, applied computer science, computer science or CIS.
Development experiences with various databases and DBMSs.
Proficient with data processing flowcharting techniques.
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, constantly changing environment.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
1-2 years of experience developing reporting and analysis tools; PowerPivot, Tableau or Spot Fire.
1-2 years of experience developing pixel-perfect reports; SSRS, Pentaho Report Designer or Jaspersoft iReports.
Travel
