Zillow is seeking an exceptional developer to join our growing business analytics team, which is responsible for delivering actionable insights from our terabytes of data. Data is the lifeblood flowing through our product and company so this is a critical role.
You will collaborate closely with our business and development teams to build scalable business intelligence systems that will be used across the company and by external partners. You will tackle some of Zillow?s most important problems and delve deep into our products, sales channels and the behaviors of our millions of users.
While the role is primarily BI development, the successful candidate will have a broad skill-set also including requirements gathering, project management and testing. We are looking for an experienced, proactive, highly competent self-starter who?s looking for an opportunity to play a key role utilizing a wide set of skills in an environment that affords lots of independence.
Responsibilities:
Collect and synthesize BI problems and requirements from across the organization
Architect BI solutions in collaboration with business, development and operations teams
Design, plan, develop, test, document and maintain best-in-class BI capabilities, including data warehouse data structures, ETL jobs, OLAP cubes and SSRS reports
Develop BI technology roadmap and experiment with new technologies to solve business needs
Qualifications:
3+ years experience in BI/data warehousing development required
Very strong knowledge of MS SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS, SSMS) and database structures required
Experience developing complex SQL queries and stored procedures required
Experience with ETL tools and processes, and the ability to performance tune large data extractions required
Knowledge of OOP (C# or Java) required
Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and OLAP. Experience building OLAP cubes a plus
Experience developing financial reporting systems and SSRS desirable
Experience with Big Data (Hadoop, BigQuery etc) and data visualization (Tableau, Spotfire etc) desirable
Strong problem solving and analytic skills
Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications
Ability to independently research and solve complex technical problems
Strong project management and organizations skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving company environment
BS or MS required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
