The Senior BI Engineer will:Lead and advise end users on discovering business insights ? understanding business needs, deciphering requirements, and building an effective solution. Serve as primary technical contact for a work group or project teams.
Work collaboratively with the other members of the team, utilizing Cognos reporting skills and knowledge to build, populate, and maintain reports, dashboards and scorecards.
Apply knowledge of database architecture and tuning to ensure maximum performance of reports, dashboards and scorecards.
Draw on written and verbal communication skills as well as software development experience to cohesively implement and support reporting and information platforms within the company, providing technical guidance where necessary.
Have a strong desire to formulate new and creative ways of displaying data relationships in a fast paced environment with a high rate of change.
Develop standards, templates, procedures, and best practices for different Cognos applications.
Requirements:
5+ Years Experience with Cognos BI Analysis/Report/Query Studio, Business Insights/Business Insights Advanced, Framework Manager, Transformer
Proven experience in playing a lead role on BI projects ? leading discovery, design, and implementation on highly complex projects.
Excellent data modeling, SQL (Aster/Postgres experience a plus), and troubleshooting skills.
Amazing written and verbal communication skills
Experience with MPP databases and MapReduce concepts a plus
Working knowledge of TM1
Comfortable with Unix
Spotfire experience a plus
Bachelor's degree (preferred) in information systems, business administration, computer science, or equivalent technical field
