Value Consulting is a specialized department within Guidewire that focuses on helping customers build qualitative and quantitative business justification for their core system investments as well as measuring and benchmarking their performance after go-live. The Business Value Consultant is expected to lead intense short-term client-facing engagements that may include:
- direct observation of a customer's operations and processes
- estimation/calculation of the projected business benefits of implementing a new system
- presentation of results to key executive decision makers.
The Business Value Consultant is responsible for coordinating and leading these week-long engagements and for putting together the deliverable and delivering the final presentation. Due to the intense nature of these short projects, the consultant must be creative, analytical, and personable. She needs to be able to understand process issues and problems quickly, be an expert at active listening, and ultimately be able to present her findings in a form that is both visually appealing and intellectually satisfying.
This role will require 25% - 50% travel.
The Business Value Consultant responsibilities include the following:
- Coordinating and leading business consulting projects of approximately 2-4 team members (sometimes selected from product management, sales, marketing, or professional services resources)
- Creating detailed, logical, and readable excel tools and powerpoint presentations for management audiences at various levels (e.g., supervisors, managers, directors, vice-presidents, and C-level executives)
- Standardizing and formalizing content to ensure a high-level of quality and consistency and to make the process more repeatable.
- Work with the sales team to ensure that the engagement outcome is aligned with account goals and customer needs.
- Work with internal product management and product marketing teams to ensure that information learned from the engagements are fed back into the product and external messaging.
- Being a “go to†resource for the sales team
- Directly supporting sales, particularly for large or strategic opportunities, through calls or presentations
- Creating and designing necessary collateral, white papers, presentations, and other sales tools
- Providing input from sales and marketing to the product prioritization and design process (managed by a separate Product Management team)
Required attributes:
- 4 years experience in management / business process consulting with a focus on uses/application of technology
- Experience developing cost-benefit analyses for large enterprise software projects
- Ability to internalize and explain new business processes quickly (based on 1-2 process flows and a handful of interviews)
- Demonstrated ability to create visually compelling presentations and to deliver them effectively to senior customer executive audiences
- Very smart with high analytical aptitude
- Think very fast on your feet and make adjustments quickly
- High degree of comfort with technology
- Exceptional communication skills both oral and written
Desired attributes:
- Knowledge of and experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.
- Enterprise software implementation experience
- Experience working in sales and marketing organizations or other customer-facing roles
