Job Description :

The Buyer position is an 'add-to-staff' position needed to support the increase in New Production Introduction and Direct Buy items.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
-Purchase of standard materials for released product and pre-production runs;
-Reschedule of open orders to align with MRP data and min/max spreadsheet data;
-Negotiation of final price and delivery with suppliers based on forecasted demand;
-Investigation of new sources of supply;
-Work with supplier quality team to qualify new suppliers;
-Expedite/track orders and shipments to insure delivery performance;
-Interface with engineering team on new product designs or revision cut-over;
-Work to understand the business impact with regard to current commodity material pricing;
-Assist process owner in the training of the Materials Team, as required;
-Assist in ongoing cost reduction strategies;
-Work with suppliers to dispose of and/or replace defective materials;
-Work to resolve quality issues between engineering and supplier.
Job Requirements :

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
-Thorough understanding of the planning process (MDS-MPS-MRP) and its effect on the supply chain;
-Solid understanding of the commodity fabrication process;
-Knowlege of commodity technology advancements, road maps, and the potential business implications/improvements;
-Computer literate - Word, Excel, and Oracle;
-Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
