Our Home category is positioned for explosive growth in the coming year and the Home Buyer will be a key member of the team driving this initiative. The ideal candidate will have technical and practical buying process knowledge, including strong open-to-buy experience as well as an eye for the latest trends in luxury and fashion home goods. S/he will drive sales and profitability through savvy negotiation skills, inventory management, an eye for product and assortment(remove), and competitive pricing strategies.Responsibilities:
Build strong vendor partnerships; negotiate terms and maintain agreement accountability
Develop category strategy and the financial plan; manage and communicate margin forecasting to ensure financial targets are achieved
Conduct buying trips and attending trade shows on a regular basis
Negotiate buying terms with vendors (price, quantity, delivery terms, markdowns)
Manage inventory levels with input from merchandise planning team
Present new category recommendations regularly, including financials, market analysis, strategic planning
Develop vendor financial plans (profitability targets, markup and receipt flow)
Recruit, mentor, and develop members of the Home merchandising team
Keep abreast of industry trends and new product ideas
Partner with Editorial and other internal stakeholders to ensure the vendor matrix is consistent with brand positioning
Desired Skills & Experience
7+ years of Home buying experience with a strong product sensibility(remove) strong vendor relationships
Successful track record of buying in a multi-vendor environment
Demonstrated talent with retail financials, product assortments, and driving profitability
Highly skilled with managing the OTB process(remove) Direct management responsibility for Gross Margin and profitability
Demonstrated success as a team leader; adept at coaching and developing staff
Experience creating engaging proposals and presenting to senior executives
Ability to analyze reports and draw conclusions/recommendations
Ability to remain flexible and willing to change strategies, as business needs dictate
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Self-starter, ambitious in nature, committed to quality and accountability
A positive and engaging team-oriented approach
Bachelor?s degree in business, finance or a related field
