Reports to: Purchasing Manager
SCOPE:
Rectorseal, a successful specialty chemical manufacturing company since 1937 located near Loop 610 and 290, is seeking a Buyer I ? MRO, to be responsible for assuring the continuous supply and timely procurement of MRO materials in order to maintain inventory levels at optimum costs consistent with quality specifications. A creative mind is needed to work closely with maintenance and office staff in developing new efficiencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a thorough knowledge of MRO items required by Rectorseal.
Maintain, re-evaluate, and expand reliable sources of supply and secondary sources as a back-up to promote appropriate competition and insure continued production.
Use all available sources to determine market trends. Make recommendations for action to Supervisor.
Obtain competitive bids and award contracts on the basis of greatest profitability to the company, commensurate with quality standards, and delivery capabilities.
Keep informed of new materials and techniques by attending seminars, trade shows, etc., and visiting suppliers. Communicate information obtained to Product Development, Manufacturing, and other departments.
Maintain and develop bills of materials for current and new projects.
Recommend improvements in the company's internal procedure when and if required.
Must be able to multi-task projects and maintain a professional image.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Mapics / AS400 or SAP experience required.
Minimum 2 years? experience in a Purchasing position.
