Responsible for assigned procurement activities to achieve efficient, on-time, and cost-effective delivery of quality materials necessary for Nanosys manufacturing, R&D, and facility operations. Assists in the development and implementation of Nanosys? procurement strategies and supply management programs. Works closely with engineering, sales, and manufacturing to fully understand their needs, and responds accordingly to fulfill them. Develops and maintains close positive ethical relationships with suppliers, and continuously monitors their ability to meet our requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as an active member of the Supply Chain team under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager.
Performs assigned procurement activities to achieve efficient, on-time and cost-effective delivery of high quality materials necessary for Nanosys. These activities include:
Issuing purchase orders in accordance with Nanosys quality system.
Confirming delivery dates for necessary materials.
Attempting to consolidate procurement of goods and services with high quality suppliers where opportunities exist.
Communicating supply concerns to necessary stakeholders and requestors.
Communicates and works closely with Project Engineers, Quality & Operations team members, Business Process Owners and the Materials Receiving Coordinator to fully understand their customer procurement needs and goals.
Performs new supplier on-boarding activity in support of Nanosys supplier development process, approval and to maintain an accurate approved suppliers list.
Performs supplier returns (RTV) as assigned and working with AP to ensure invoice credits.
Assists in pursuing corrective action from the supplier when called upon to do so.
Assumes responsibility for assigned sections of the Quality System Procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school graduate. Associate or bachelors degree/or additional courses relating to purchasing materials management, business concepts and computers preferred.
Two years of direct experience in purchasing and materials management within a manufacturing environment highly preferred.
Must be able to organize, coordinate, and implement detailed purchasing and materials management plans in a timely manner. Excellent organizational and analytical skills are required.
Ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both orally and in writing is required. Must be able to create and maintain accurate procurement documentation.
Must be able to use office equipment effectively, including telephone, voice mail, computer, e-mail, fax, calculator, copier, computer word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Prior experience using Oracle Purchasing preferred.

Work Environment and Schedule
Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with some periodic exposure to a chemical manufacturing environment. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 4 hours a day flexible morning start time, with some potential for occasional variances depending on departmental workload. Will commit sufficient time to accomplish all job responsibilities in a timely manner.
