The Carrier Relations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day contact with carrier vendors. The Manager identifies regions of the U.S. and shipping lanes which are under-served by LTL freight carriers and then identifies carriers who would be an ideal support for those areas. The Manager then solicits and closes deals with those carriers to obtain new rates, and continues to develop the relationship so as to work to introduce new products and services to the Company as well as address any carrier related issues. As a subject matter expert of the LTL carrier service offerings, the Carrier Relations Manager will help manage the development, enhancement and management of the service offerings, and may participate in customer communications and meetings to assist sales in closing new business opportunities. This position serves as a key liaison between sales, customers and carriers.
Identifies regions and shipping lanes which are not served through dedicated carriers, and then recruits carriers to support LTL business in those lanes. This includes the negotiation of pricing, special offerings and contractual terms which are strategic, market specific and will allow Freightquote to secure additional business in those regions.
Communicates with carriers to manage any escalated issues, and to manage any carriers that are not meeting service levels required to continue business relations. The could also include renegotiation of rates and ensuring that damage claims and billing issues are resolved, and in a timely manner.
Maintain and expand growth through the development of new products and services to the Company. Source carriers to support, communicate to sales, and participate in customer presentations as needed to assist in educating existing and potential customers about carrier offerings. May take information from these meetings to renegotiate or modify carrier offerings.
As directed send to carrier named account pricing opportunities (NAP) to be used for specific large LTL customers. Work between carrier and sales to ensure revenue requirements of the carrier are met and carrier is providing desired level of service.
Work with carriers to make sure pricing agreements and contracts are current.
Bachelor's Degree in business or related field is required. Equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
At least 5 years of transportation experience with a significant background in pricing and pricing analytics. Carrier pricing experience preferred.
Strong time management and organizational skills with high attention to detail
Solid understanding and use of excel and power point
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong knowledge of tariff and carrier base rates
Ability to multi-task
