We?re looking for a hard-charging Category Manager to help get IT pros using our app and community in a way that drives our bottom line.

What you?ll do: As a Category Manager, you?ll own a segment of our business (i.e. cloud services, software, hardware or mobile) and be responsible for developing new products, marketing plans (hello positioning and messaging!) and sales opportunities. Amid this, you?ll build the Spiceworks brand as the place for IT pros go for product info and educational content related to your segment?and you?ll have the satisfaction of measuring ROI of your efforts every step of the way!
Responsibilities: What will I do?
On a daily basis you work closely with all departments:
Sales and sales enablement to increase customer spend, keep customers spending with Spiceworks prove ROI for programs by drive regular interaction with sales and customers to fine-tune messaging and packaging
Demand gen to evangelize/sell products, drive qualified interest and increase the total number of customer spending with Spiceworks
Marketing communications to drive tool usage and determine what products are most engaging for IT pros
Product marketing to better understand segment trends and customize product messaging for your particular segment
Application development to bring category specific vendor and IT products to life
Community development to make sure relevant content is created in the community; making Spiceworks the go to place for information
Account management to optimize creative, campaigns and reporting prove ROI for programs
Stay aggressively on top of the competitive/industry landscape and keep sales, dev and exec teams in the loop
Analyze and conceptualize a new business and monetization opportunities (business development)
Qualifications: What does it take to do this job?
Passionate for IT. The more you geek out on tech, the better. If you administered a network in your past -- huge bonus points.
Product gene. The ability to visualize and bring to life new products.
Multi-tasking master. You can work on a dozen different projects with a dozen different people.
Sales moxie. Sales wants you to be on the call, at the site, and involved in creating the presentation.
Results driven. You can point to what you?ve done in the past, not just what you were part of or watched from the sidelines.
Passion for change, creativity and invention. Everything you encounter in life is an opportunity to either learn from it ? or fix it.
2-3 years in product marketing or consulting with tech industry experience
Technical undergrad or MBA preferred
