JOB NUMBER: 1105OP03 Under minimal supervision, the cytogenetics technologist handles biological specimens from
prenatal chorionic villous tissue and amniotic fluid cells, and postnatal peripheral blood for
cell culture with subsequent microscopic analysis for cytogenetic studies to confirm or rule
out a clinical diagnosis and performs all routine and special cytogenetic techniques including
FISH analysis, maintains all pertinent equipment, and contributes to general laboratory
maintenance.
