Cell Biology Intern Ambit Biosciences
The Cell Biology Intern will support the Pharmacology team by ensuring that lab equipment and supplies are ready for use. The Cell Biology Intern will also be given the opportunity to be directly involved in the department?s ongoing research activities and gaining hands-on experience.
Essential Job Functions:
?Reconstitute & prepare aliquots of frequently used reagents (e.g. penicillin/streptomycin, lysis buffer, PMSF, protease inhibitors, etc.)
?Stock tissue culture room & main lab with commonly used supplies and consumables
?Prepare buffers and sterile cell culture media
?Manage inventory of reagents, chemicals, and supplies using proper labeling and computerized transactions
?Periodic cleaning/maintenance of:
oBiohazard waste (dry & liquid)
?Order lab supplies and reagents
?Maintenance/culturing of eukaryotic cells (will train; experience with sterile technique a plus)
?Other activities as assigned
EDUCATION:Must be pursuing a B.S. degree in cell biology, biology, or closely related discipline.
EXPERIENCE:Requires the completion of Biochemistry lab course.

Equipment: PC, scanners, facsimile machine, voice mail and email systems, and other common machines. Must have the ability to be trained on new equipment.
Software Knowledge:Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Physical Activities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk around in the laboratory, or sit at a desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer the telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 30 lbs. will be required. The employee may need to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with their arms. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
