Central Applications Engineer - Processor Architecture Tensilica
You will be a member of the Central Applications Engineering team at Tensilica, with a focus on architecting and configuring Tensilica processors for specific application domains. Members of the CAE team are technical experts in their field. In this position you will work with Tensilica development engineering team as well as the customer support team. You will be involved in product definition and release, as well as in supporting customers in customizing and optimizing Xtensa processors for their application domains.
Be the Central Applications Engineering expert on configuring and extending Tensilica processors using the Tensilica Instruction Extension (TIE) language and tool flow
Be the expert on analyzing C language applications, and defining new instructions, data types and functional units to accelerate those applications
Work closely with the customer support team in supporting Tensilica customers to answer their advanced questions on processor architecture and TIE. Interact directly with customers as needed to achieve this objective
Develop customer training and help train customers and field application engineers on optimizing Tensilica processors and optimizing the software running on these processors
Write documentation, application notes, examples, and create and maintain a Knowledge Base on TIE features and their usage.
Work with the R&D team to provide feedback on customer usage of Tensilica processor extensions and requests for enhancements so that future products may better serve customer requirements
Participate in the evaluation and advanced usage of new products.
Some travel (up to 15% of time), including international travel is required
Deep knowledge of processor architecture, system architecture, and interfaces
Good understanding of the instruction set architecture of embedded processors
Good experience in writing and optimizing C programs
Must have experience in writing, debugging and optimizing (Verilog) RTL for data paths and control
Experience with Digital Signal Processors, including VLIW and SIMD instruction sets, is a plus
Strong communication skills ? written and oral are required
Experience in working with customers and resolving customer issues, writing product documentation, and creating training material and presenting such material are strongly desired
BS in EE/CS with 10+ years work experience or MS in EE/CS with 8+ years work experience required.
