You will be a member of the Central Applications Engineering team at Tensilica, with a focus on embedded software development, and software tools for Xtensa processors. In this position you will work with Tensilica development engineering as well as the customer support team. You will be involved in product definition and release, as well as in supporting customers with the use and integration of these products into their systems.
Members of the Central Applications Engineering team are technical experts in their field. The CAE team works closely with customer support, helping Tensilica customers use and develop software for our microprocessor cores. The team is also responsible for training customers on our tools and technologies, authoring application notes and other collateral that helps customers make effective use of our products. Your specific responsibilities will include:
Be the Central Applications Engineering expert on Tensilica software development tools such as the Xtensa C/C++ compiler, linker, assembler and instruction set simulator.
Be the applications engineering expert on writing, profiling, analyzing and optimizing software (application as well as driver level) for Tensilica processors.
Work closely with other application engineers in supporting Tensilica customers with their advanced questions on software tools. Interact directly with customers as needed to achieve this objective.
Develop customer training and help train customers and field application engineers on usage of our software tools
Help in authoring documentation and create and maintain a Knowledge Base on issues surrounding the software tools and their usage.
Work closely with the R&D team to provide feedback on customer usage of software tools and requests for enhancements so that future products may better serve customer requirements
Participate in testing of new products.
Knowledge of computer architecture and embedded systems programming. Must be familiar with writing, debugging and optimizing application as well as driver software on multiple embedded processor platforms. Experience in programming assembly as well as C/C++ is required. You must be familiar with the workings of software tools such as compilers, linkers, simulators and debuggers. Strong communication skills ? written and oral are required. Experience in working with customers and resolving customer issues, writing product documentation, creating training material and presenting such material is desired. Some travel (up to 15%) within the US and internationally is required.
BS in EE/CS with 10+ years work experience or MS in EE/CS with 8+ years work experience required.
