Summary:
Primary function. Responsible for the review, analysis and coding of diagnostic and procedural information for Accelecare Wound Professionals (physician group) medical records that determines Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance payments. Performs ICD-9-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding for optimum and accurate reimbursement, observing and ensuring compliance with established coding guidelines, third party reimbursement policies, regulations and accreditation guidelines.
Long Description:
Education. High School Degree with CCS-P or CPC certification required.
Experience. Two years physician coding experience using ICD-9-CM, CPT and CCI publications.
Other knowledge/ Skills.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Highly organized and able to work with deadlines constrains.
-Excel/ Word skills.
-Understanding of Healthcare Compliance Issues.
-Auditing experience.
-Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, techniques and surgical procedures anatomy and physiology.
-Advance knowledge of medical codes involving selection of most accurate and description codes using ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS and CCI publications.
-Skill in correlating generalized observations/symptoms (vital signs, lab results, medications, etc.) to a stated diagnosis to assign the correct ICD-9-CM code.
-Advanced knowledge of medical codes involving selection of most accurate and descriptive code using the CPT codes for billing of third party resources.
-Advance knowledge of official coding conventions and rules established by the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes.
