Position Summary

In this position the Chemical Engineer will report to a Technical Director and work within a multidisciplinary team to develop process technologies for biofuel production via syngas fermentation and successfully contribute to completion of key projects and business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Evaluate commercial physical/chemical separation and catalytic reaction technologies for gas phase applications
Develop novel technologies for removal of impurities from syngas
Design and conduct laboratory and pilot scale experiments for validation and development of separation and reaction technologies
Participate in development of process flow diagrams and mass and energy balances for commercial scale plants
Report results in the forms of oral presentations and written reports

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with more than 10 years relevant experience
Significant R&D experience in catalytic reactor systems for hydrocarbon reforming
Considerable R&D experience in scrubbing, adsorption and absorption
Considerable experience in process development and scale up
Considerable experience in leading projects/tasks in multidisciplinary R&D teams
Significant knowledge of mass transfer and reaction kinetics
Considerable skills in advanced engineering calculations and mathematical modeling/simulation using spreadsheet and commercial mathematic modeling software
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
