Summary/Overall Job Scope
Lead the manufacturing engineering team to ensure that elements of Design For Manufacturability (DFM) are incorporated in the product design, during the product development process. He or she will be one of the key stake holders in approving whether a product is ready for mass production and commercial launch. Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team in the scale up and stabilization of new products approved for production. Provide leadership to the Manufacturing Engineering team in achieving continuous process improvement in areas of quality, yield, cost, and cycle time. Must understand chemical manufacturing and process and be familiar with how to implement high scale production.
Responsibilities
Deliver manufacturable products and processes through close collaboration with the product design team, during the product development process.
Develop and execute capacity expansion plans to meet production ramp-up needs of the business.
Build a highly trained, flexible and professional manufacturing engineering team to support the growing demands of the corporation.
Direct and coordinate manufacturing engineering activities so approved products are manufactured on schedule and meet quality standards and cost objectives.
Employ statistical problem solving methodologies and sound engineering principles to ensure excellence in execution.
Drive continuous improvements in all related manufacturing processes, including those related to products, equipment, human interface and product quality.
Through partnerships with the production personnel, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will ensure the required technical support for all critical process and product issue resolution as well as technical direction to the engineer are available for all product builds and process operations.
Requirements
BS/MS in Chemical Engineering.
5-10 years hands-on experience in a chemical manufacturing environment as a manufacturing engineering manager. Track record of successful production launch and ramp up of new product and processes.
Outstanding leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, change leadership experience, and a strong sense of urgency.
Knowledge and experience with chemical process design and transport phenomena fundamentals, and able to effectively utilize these concepts to solve existing process issues and optimize the process.
Knowledge of manufacturing best practices, process control (SPC, Six Sigma), engineering management (project management) and safety management.
Demonstrated success in leading projects from conceptual design through installation, qualification and ramp up.
Knowledge and experience with quality and environmental management systems (ISO9001 and ISO14001) a plus.
