Chemical Technician QD Vision
QD Vision is seeking a Chemical Technician to support the Matrix Manufacturing team. The candidate will work as part of a fast-paced manufacturing team generating commercial products based on nanoparticle quantum dot technology. In this role, you will produce matrix products in the Matrix Manufacturing Operation, involving all aspects of set up, run and qualification of standard and experimental batches, and supporting scale-up for increasing production volumes. This involves using your skills to make production batches that meet the demanding quality specifications and process control limits by:
Precisely following SOPs and production batch sheets to formulate batches
Utilizing equipment according to documented instructions and training
Documenting information in hard copy and electronically as required
Taking steps to manage the process according to the quality plan
You will use safety protocols as needed and take personal responsibility to prevent injuries and incidents as well as properly disposing of all waste materials according to protocols.
Responsibilities
Setting up/debugging/maintaining production equipment and operational area
Meeting daily Matrix production schedule
Working closely with engineers to establish optimized processes
Diligent application of safety and house-keeping practices
Creating/following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Test and measurement of product and process to ensure product meets quality specifications
Maintaining proper documentation and electronic records
Providing assistance to train and guide other production team members
Requirements
AS degree or equivalent in chemical/technical field and 1-2+years direct experience. BA/BS in Chemistry desired
Experience in chemical or chemical manufacturing; additional experience in a fast-paced start-up environment or pilot facility is a plus
For the current opening, the ability to work on the 3rd Shift (10:30pm ? 7:00am)
Strong team player and fast learner with excellent observation skills and the ability to react to changing priorities and protocols under tight timelines
Working knowledge of standard chemical safety/hygiene requirements and overall safe workplace practices with excellent safety record
Experience with hood operations, setting up gas manifolds, pumps, mixing apparatus/machinery; proper handling/cleaning of lab glassware; working with air sensitive and flammable chemicals and high purity solid materials is desired; capability to troubleshoot equipment and process problems is required
Skills to collect and measure liquid and dry samples; able to set and measure process pressures, flows, temperatures, etc. using instruments
Experience using statistical techniques to monitor and control the process and finished product quality. Experience making process adjustments based on SPC guidelines
Experience with Production Management/Control systems (ERP and DCS) desired
Exceptional attention to detail, and strong documentation (reports, databases, and spreadsheets) and communication skills
Manual dexterity for use of tools, valves, fittings, instruments; no lifting restrictions up to legally allowed weight limit
Technical math skills and computer skills required (proficiency in Microsoft Word and advanced Excel skills)
