Nanosys is looking for an experienced Chemist who will be involved in the development of next generation semiconductor nanocrystals (quantum dots). Job duties include synthesize, test and formulate semiconductor and metal nanoparticles, nanocomposites and other nanomaterials utilizing inorganic and organic chemistry techniques. Perform process optimization experiments and analyze data. Assist in process scale-up, validation, documentation and transfer to manufacturing. Responsibilities:
Carry out nanocrystal synthesis, characterize and formulate them and perform quality control checks using established procedures.
Responsible for regular maintenance of the glove box and chemicals inventory.
Purification of raw chemicals using distillation, recrystallization, sublimation and other techniques.
Preparing stock solutions for synthesizing quantum dots.
Separation, surface modification and formulation of quantum dots.
Optical, chemical and structural characterizations of quantum dots using tools such as UV-Vis absorption, photoluminescence, NMR, and FTIR.
Running designed synthesis experiments.
Materials inventory and experiments documentation.
Qualifications:
BS degree in Chemistry, MS degree in Chemistry preferred.
3-10 years industrial chemistry development experience.
Experience with air free techniques, and fluorescence spectroscopy.
Experience in handling organometallic reagents.
Experience with quantum dot synthesis a plus.
Experience with lab safety, chemical safety, and hazardous waste management.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to interact well in a team environment are essential.
Ability and desire to work efficiently and productively in a multi-task environment on a daily basis, independently and with minimal supervision.
