Chief Data Scientist CafeMom
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED CafeMom is looking for a Chief Data Scientist to lead our efforts to aggregate the highest quality data on moms across the web and create the strategic gateway through which top brands can reach the right moms with the right message at real scale - all to drive performance. In addition to this major new initiative, the Chief Data Scientist will oversee all company efforts to apply statistical methods and discipline to every aspect of the business.
Overall objectives include strong growth in revenues, the development of new revenue streams, improvement of user experience, better results for our advertising partners, and strong decision-making across the Company.
This person will need to develop the vision and strategy for our new major "big data" initiative, but also roll up his / her sleeves to determine best way to collect, segment, analyze, and optimize data. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about data-driven digital marketing and advertising who thrives in a start-up environment with a strong desire to contribute to the success of the company. This person will wear many hats in this high profile role, building a data science team, working across teams (Product, Technology, Sales, Sales Operations) to launch this function, presenting to clients to win deals, and digging into the numbers on a daily basis. This person will play a key role in senior management of the business.
The ideal candidate understands the RTB / online advertising exchange space, has expertise in machine learning and data mining, is a great story-teller, and can build and lead a team.
Overall Role & Responsibilities:
Lead the development of CafeMom's audience data capability, including team, technology, processes, and go-to-market approach as we sell and execute advertising campaigns that extensively leverage audience data
Strategically design and manage our rapidly growing DMP ? to capture and organize a huge amount of data across our properties as well as those of our partners
Develop standard and custom audience segments, refining them on an ongoing basis to optimize performance
Create frameworks to estimate the economic value of different data sets and sources
Work with our larger team to ensure strong performance across range of programs and campaigns
Source (develop or acquire) the necessary tools and technologies and develop algorithms and techniques
Skills and Competencies:
Deep, demonstrable expertise in the process of creating value from digital data, ideally in the context of audience creation and targeting
M.S. or PhD in Stats, Math, CS or related discipline and 5-7 years of relevant industry experience
Expertise in data mining, machine learning, predictive analysis and some knowledge in NLP (atural Language Processing)
Expert in algorithm development, especially statistical and predictive modeling and building machine learning systems using (big) data
Knowledge of the following areas of digital advertising: Real-time Bidding (RTB), Data strategy / Data Management Platforms (DMP) , Marketing and Audience Segmentation, Brand vs. Performance advertising
Ability to understand and communicate complex technology and business concepts quickly to a variety of audiences, and the ability to translate complex and detailed information in a simplified and understandable manner
Must want to work in a start up environment solving big technical issues
Excellent communication, leadership, and persuasion skills, with outstanding presentation skills
Expert with statistical analysis packages such as Matlab, R, SAS, or SPSS and SQL, relational database design and methods for efficiently retrieving data from databases
