Redfin's mission is to reinvent real estate in the consumer's favor, and we?re building a world-class team to tell our story. Newspapers, websites and broadcast media cover the housing market every day, and Redfin has the goods to be the go-to, authoritative real estate source. To do it, the company needs a high-powered, big-thinking real estate economist to delve into its massive data trove and extract the solid gold ideas. We need someone who is willing to make big, audacious calls about real estate, our business and the economy at large?an exceptional leader who relishes public speaking and who can be the face of Redfin as an authoritative broker. This wunderkind will need to think hyper-local and universal at the same time, as well as effectively communicate ideas to industry insiders, scientists, or soccer moms.
What you?ll do:
As a part of the public relations team, the Chief Real Estate Scientist will:
Work with Redfin?s veteran Data Scientist and media relations experts to develop newsworthy ideas and support them with research and data analysis.
Write thought-provoking, compelling reports about the real estate industry, homebuyer and seller sentiment, Redfin business data and user behavior.
Keep abreast of macro-economic trends, housing market trends, and Redfin user and client trends.
Serve as a Redfin spokesperson with regional and national media.
Build and maintain relationships with industry influencers and top-tier journalists.
Represent Redfin at industry events.
What you?ll need to succeed:
Ph.D in Economics.
A minimum of three years work experience in the economics field.
A passion for real estate.
Strong understanding of econometrics and economics theory.
Ability to communicate complex information in a simplified way.
Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be a part of a diverse team.
The rare balance of brilliance, intellect and scrappiness, and a track record for building and leading effective teams.
Strong organization and planning skills, keen attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
Charismatic, persuasive demeanor, dynamic presentation skills, and excellent writing skills. On-camera experience is a plus.
