MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides classification support to agency managers and HR specialists in the areas of writing job analyses, reviewing, updating and/or drafting position descriptions and writing corresponding performance plans (in accordance the agencies guidelines)
Prepares OF-8's and documenting factor levels, total points, points range, classification standards used, supporting justification of title/series determinations (on the PDs), factor evaluation worksheets and FLSA worksheets
Coordinates with agency POCs, HR Specialists and the Office of Administration to ensure consistency of approach and maximum use of generic position descriptions when possible is required
Maintains a weekly activity log report to be submitted to the COTR that lists assignments being worked on, the status of each assignment and the number of hours being charged to
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Bachelors degree plus8 years experience, or 12 years classification experience without bachelors
Experience using Position Classification Standards for White Collar Positions and functional guides
Experience using job grading standards for trades, craft, and labor positions and functional standards
Experience making Fair Labor Standards Act determinations
Experience classifying positions in the general schedule, banded positions and wage system positions using job analysis skills to make fine distinctions in the proper crediting of factor levels and ultimate allocation of grade levels to positions.
Experience communicating grade distinctions to management with supporting criteria and justification
Experience providing recommendations to management on organizational design with emphasis on career development principles and practices
Experience relating position classification to the management process and other HR programs.
Experience conducting occupational analyses and/or classification studies
PREFERABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience classifying SES,SL and ST positions
Experience handling classification appeals
Experience conducting reorganization/position management studies
Experience with pay banding or alternate classification systems
